Faith

We escaped the blistering, near record-breaking 107 degree temperatures today by going to the beach. As we were getting loaded, Jarom came out of the house with one aqua sock on one foot and one tennis shoe on his other foot. We have not been able to find the match to the aqua sock all summer. I told him just to wear the tennis shoes because that looked silly. He reluctantly changed out of the water shoe into his other tennis shoe. I started loading the car, only to look over at Jarom standing ankle deep in a mud puddle with the sprinkler oscillating back and forth over the top of him. Grrrrr. Now he was sopping wet and his shoes were a muddy mess and we were ready to go. He asked what shoes he was going to wear. I told him to get another pair of tennis shoes, which he did, but said, "Do you think we could say a prayer for my other water shoe?"

"Of course!" I replied out loud. In my head I am thinking "We have looked and searched all over ALL summer for that shoe, we are not going to find it."

Jarom got in the van, buckled himself in, and said a prayer to find his shoe and to have a great time at the beach.

I was standing at the other side of the van. Jarom finished praying, I asked if he was going to go look for his shoe. He said "No."

I opened up the stow and go to make sure I had plenty of diapers for Ezra, and what did I find? Jarom's shoe.

I have opened that stow and go 100 times this summer and never saw his shoe in there before.

I know that the Lord works miracles. I am grateful for the faith of my 5 year old and for the love of my Heavenly Father. Jarom learned the power of prayer and faith today. I caught a glimpse of Heaven.

When things like that happen, I think the shoe (or whatever) is so unimportant, why would the Lord care if I found it or not when I can do without. Then, I think, it's not the item he cares about, it's that he wants to answer our prayers. After all, Christ is at the door, we just have to open it.

Goosebumps! Way to go Jarom! We had an experience that taught us and our kids about prayer in San Diego with Michael's wedding ring going missing. We searched EVERYWHERE to no avail, prayed and found it within one minute. Miracles do happen every day!
