Our Anniversary Hike to Smith Rock

For our 7th anniverary, Lance and I took a day to go hiking aroung Smith Rock in Central Oregon. We had a great time and saw some really neat things, like a furry and very slow-moving beattle, a gigantic bumble bee with an orange stripe, a large, speedy lizard that mocked our slowness, and some other great wildlife. I was just listing all of the neat things, when I saw a HUGE snake right in the middle of our path. Lance made sure that it was not a rattle snake before grabbing it by the tail. Look away if snakes make you squeemish!

We started our hike and I just couldn't seem to get my "hiking legs" to work. It was tough. It wasn't until we reached the top, that I learned the trail was called "Misery Trail." I felt better about my weak legs after that. Beautiful view.

This formation is called "Monkey Face." People climb this thing. CRAZY!!!
Here's me in a cave! There were lots of neat rock formations.
Here is Lance looking in the top of the cave I was sitting in. Notice the fly rods! We didn't catch anything, but had a good time.

Happy Anniversary to US!!! To top of our wonderful day, Lance treated me to a gourmet meal at the Apple Peddler-- lets just say my seat cushion was torn, there was a sign on the front door warning parents not to leave their children in their vehicles when then they came in to play video poker, and my chicken was dry, but the company was wonderful.

I will have you know that I HAVE climbed Monkey Face!

We always eat at the Black Bear Diner when we go to Smith Rock. Try that next time! (wink)
