Ezra was scheduled for a sleep-deprived EEG to determine if he is no longer going to have seizures and if we can begin weening him off his medication. He has been seizure free for 18 months on medication, so we are anxious to find out if he is able to be weened off the medication. In order to do the sleep-deprived EEG, Ezra needed to only get half the amount of his normal sleep, putting him to bed late and waking him up early. Lance left for
Atlanta, GA Sunday morning at 5:00 (which I had to drive him to the airport), so I was a little nervous about my ability to keep Ezra up until 11:00 and then get him up at 5:00 Monday morning. Ezra is also the type of kid that asks to go to bed at 8:00, so keeping him up until 11:00 was a rather daunting task. I decided to have a doctor party!! We took
Jarom over to the Farrell's house and invited
Teya Ferrell (the mom) to help me keep Ezra up. Here are his presents:

I wrapped up everything that we were going to do at the doctor party. The first present contained a chocolate cake mix, frosting, and a mixing bowl.

We turned up the music and all the lights and Ezra showed us his
latest dance moves. He LOVES to bust a move!

Next gift: Crayons and wax paper. We spent quite a while drawing with crayons on the wax paper on the griddle. It is so smooth and fun.

Remember plastic bubbles? So much fun! I also had a few little art projects wrapped up, like a picture of a ladybug that had sequins and pom poms that were attached all over with sticky dots. Ezra was extremely patient at putting all of the little sticky dots on. We also had some little
build-able dinosaurs that filled about 10 minutes of time!

A new gun! Ezra had a great time chasing
Teya and I around the house shooting us with darts. He as very careful to put each dart back into the gun after he fired it.

Pulling out all the stops to keep him up late-- his last big gift was a new scooter! Look at him go! He said the next day that this was his favorite part, although he only rode it for a few minutes-- then we did more crayons on the wax paper.
Ezra fell asleep right at 11:00. At 5:00 the next morning, I woke him up and we played
Legos and read a story, then came down stairs and made another picture on the wax paper. We took
Teya home about 6:30 and said good morning to
Jarom (the
Ferrells' were taking
Jarom to school), and I took Ezra to
McDonalds for breakfast. Then off to the hospital. It was tough to keep him awake in the car.

Such a different reaction from the last EEG we did with Ezra. He was so good-- calm and happy-- and sleepy.

He wanted to see what was happening on the top of his head, so I took a picture for him so he could see what was going on.

All done with the electrodes.

He fell asleep-- they wanted him to. Such a good patient.
He was so fantastic. Came home and went to sleep at about 1:30 and slept until 5:30.
RESULTS: EEG NORMAL
Now they want another 6-months seizure free on the medication and then we can ween him off the meds!!

This has nothing to do with the EEG, but Ezra loves to do his hair. He is going to be trouble when he is older!!! So handsome.
