So, the other day I took my two boys and a couple of spare kids to Fred Meyer to get a few items, one of which was a tub of licorice that was on sale this week. The licorice was on the bottom shelf and, being on sale, was cleared out to the back. So, I asked Zen (4) -- one of my "extras" if he would grab a tub of licorice for me. He was down on the ground reaching to the back of the bottom shelf when an old lady came trucking down the candy isle in a motorized shopping cart and came to a screeching halt inches from Zen. "MOVE," she shouted. I was shocked, and nearly grabbed all four of the kids close around me, but then thought, "No, we were shopping, she can wait." So I told her, "He was grabbing something, you can be patient for a moment." To which she replied, "You need to keep you kids out of the isle." (Remember, we are on the CANDY isle.) I replied, "No, you need to slow down and not run over my kiddos." She screamed, "I STOPPED, DIDN'T I." Meanwhile, Zen had gotten the tub of licorice and the path had been cleared. I called after her that she was being extremely rude. Sometimes I think people don't know when they are being rude.
In recounting the story later that evening to Lance, he asked Jarom what the lady looked like. Jarom responded, "She looked like a 'treat-giving grandma,' but she wasn't!" He is grateful for his "treat-giving Grandmas!!"

It is amazing how unkind so many people are, and how quick to anger. Goodness. I hope Jarom thinks of me as a treat giving grandma. I try to be. Just ask the kiddo's around here...it is hard to go without bringing them something (even individually wrapped prunes, which I buy every once in a while.......)
Love you all, and glad you got your licorace!!!
