HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY Summer!!!1

Summer turned 13 this past week. Officially a teenager. Wow! How time flies by. Here is a picture of the cake that I made for her:
Summer LOVES frosting, so it turned out very fluffy. I used 2 cake mixes and 4 frosting tubs to make her cake.

We decorated Summer's door because her Birthday present was to have her own room-- she has been sharing with Ezra for the past 2 1/2 years.

We got her a desk so she could have a quiet place to study. I wish I had a before picture of the desk. I bought it on craigslist for $20.00. It was unfinished and had a broken trim and mis-matched knobs. I sanded it all down, bought some new trim and matching knobs, and put a clear finish on the desk. I think it turned out really cute. While I worked on that, Lance was busy building bunk beds for the boy's room-- so we had a place to put Ezra when we moved him out of Summer's room. The bed turned out great. The boys are excited for their new room as much as Summer is (well, Dylan would love his own room, too, but that will have to wait until we can get a bigger house).

Close up of the trim and the knobs:

Here is Summer studying hard at her new desk. What a good student!!
We had a little party with some family friends. Summer requested salmon for dinner. Yum!! Is was a beautiful and sunny evening. We had a great time. We are proud of Summer and all of her accomplishments. She is a good student, a beautiful and talented young lady, and a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend. We are glad she is part of our family.

The desk is incredible! Wow! What a lucky girl....:)
And, Dylan can just be preparing for a mission by having constant companions.....which is a good thing, too! Can't wait for pictures of the boys beds.

What a cute desk. Great work and I love the trim.

As far as apple candy goes, you can use regular or sugar-free Jello, just remember that sugar free had a lot less powder and, therefore, will not coat as many apples. Only dip the apple slice on one side (made the mistake of dipping both sides and what a mess!) and, of course, dehydrate with non-jello side down. Out here in humid VA it took about 10 hrs to get the apples just the way I like them at 135 degrees, hopefully it will be less time for you. :) Enjoy!

Way to go. And tell Summe I LOVE frosting, too. By the spoonful. Who needs cake when there is frosting?
